Hatching
18. Stop egg turning 2 or 3 days before hatch is due. Return the incubator to its upright position.
Remove the egg dividers.

Chooknewbie

What breed of cockrel would you need ?

I have a light Sussex or a Maran that are about 14 weeks old you could have,

I'm just down the road in rotherham,

Any signs of pipping yet?

For 14 weeks their big, a lot bigger than i expected,

They are all fed a good high protein diet so they are as big as you can get for that age, and in good condition.

They are in with other cockerels so are learning to stand up for themselves, I’ve had them from one week old so the LS are quite tame the M a bit  more assertive, let’s say .

They are surplus to requirements so I would like some of them to go to a good home.

Cockerels are not to be trusted and could seriously injure a child. I had a cockerel go for my son, when he was about 2, missed his eye by one inch! He'd always been fine with me, and my son wasn't doing anything to provoke him, nor was there anything else happening that might have upset him. Needless to say he ended up in the cooking pot.
I demand the right to buy seed of varieties that are not "distinct, uniform and stable".

The LS are great with kids, when you go into the pen they come to greet you even sit on your knee and if they get the chance on your head, the offers there if you need one.

It looks like the two you are waiting to hatch will be hens (as they are late to arrive)….sorry!

Any news yet, I’m down to biting my knuckles

Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.
