I have read somewhere that chickens like to eat slugs - is this correct and do they need to be dead or alive?

I keep a few slug traps baited with beer, will this do the chickens any harm?!

Thanks

Mine like them alive.  But have gone off them now due to the piles of them every day.  They now demand worms.
I did read some where about hedgehogs eating slugs that had been trapped in beer and that they where being killed by foxes because they did not roll up quick enough.
El Natural is always a good route.

"El Natural is always a good route"

It is OK. I just mean the natural route is always good. Hand picked.

Mine go bananas over slugs and chase each other around the pen for them.  They are so dippy they make this croaky noise cos they've found one but then that tells the other lot so the other's chase them and often they drop it in surprise so don't get to eat it anyway.

Dippy things.

Would round here, Blackpool, i'll never look at the idiots in the same way again.

Now whenever I see a gaggle of drunk lads & lasses prancing up the prom in pink & flourescent green chiffon, i'll think of the chickens with a beak full of slugs.

Drunken chickens!

I have a wonderful signed print called "coq au vin" by James Middleton which shows chickens in a wine barrel treading grapes and yes they are drunk!
