I was telling some people at work that I'm getting chickens soon, ( I've been telling everyone because I'm so excited ) One of the women I was telling's OH works at the same place as my OH.They work at a fruit factory.She said, " oh,then your OH will have to be tested for compilabacta regularly,if he's in contact with chickens" :shock: If this is true,this means he will have to provide a stool sample on a regular basis  :shock: I think that's quite funny,but I don't think he's very amused!Is this true that he'll have to be tested for this?He doesn't work on the line,he's a manager... :?

do you mean Campylobacteria?
Infection through a few chickens is very very small, perhaps if you worked in a intensive poultry unit and didn't practice proper hygiene. It is a bacteria spread through contact with infected feaces, or equally  however in my opinion only you are just as likely to contract through contact with uncooked poultry.
However extremely unlikely with basic husbandry and a few chooks!

Find it funny that he might need to provide a sample as he works with fruit. I work in a hospital but never been required to give one

I agree,it does sound ridiculous doesn't it :roll: I'm a dinner lady,& she didn't mention I would have to do the test!
