Help magpies. Video evidence.

Ok I have not had an egg for 4 days. The magpies have had one every single day. I have trying to work out what who and how the eggs have been eaten. first I thought it was the girls. I have had a stern word with them and now after operation egg watch I have managed to catch the culprit. I can never get a shot at the magpies because every time I see them they fly off.

Before I show the evidence... Mu lord. I need answers to the following
1. What shall I do?
2. Cheep and quick way of killing a magpie
3. Scare crow work?

Yes I know you dont see the *(£"$#@ take any eggs but I know it was a magpie.

Bet there will be no eggs when I get home. :cry:

love the video especially the slug. The maggie will be just eating the insides and leaving the shells for you

Regarding its well being i would shoot it with an air rifle plain and simple. If you don't have one ask around friends and neighbours

Could you hang some sacking over the pophole or across the nest box ?

Shouldn't worry the hens too much but might make Maggie think twice.

Unless the slug did it :shock:

I have a air rifle but every time I go see it and it see me it flies off. Do you thing camo would help?

They are really cowardly and panicky.

i think you'd have to be in a hide or something.

Can you sit inside the henhouse and give it a fright

What a cheeky sew and sew! My cat Leo guards the hen house but is a bit wary of the hens since they ganged up in him! He also sniffs about looking for mice, so have you thought of adopting a cat?

Kill them!!!! Kill them all (maniacal cackle :twisted: )!!!! Never hated a whole species before (Oh God, does that make me racist :? ) but they eat my eggs and killed my babies.
Could you put a live trap inside the door that would catch them if they enter. Just release the hens :shock: ?

ok here is what you do get some eggs blow them ( ie make a hole in both ends and blow out the inside )

then refill with mustard it wont like that one bit

or put out some poison bait for it

well as a matter of fact you can make them go bang with bicarb

so the gas builds up and then they go pop
