First potatoes
« on: July 07, 2008, 21:34 »
Hi All

A first for us.

Dug some of our earlies, Pentland Javelin, on saturday, 5 plants to be exact - 5 of the smallest - and we're chuffed to bits 5.5lbs of potatoes, with some really good sized potatoes as plus a few wee ones - not sure if that's a good crop or not but we are really pleased.   :)

We've eaten some tonight - really lovely - more tomorrow - yum yum - taste much better than those from the shop - mind you we would say that wouldn't we?

Potatoes are best fresh with lots of butter...yum

The kids have just unearthed a couple of our plants and they made a goodly meal for six of us.
They just loved heading off for the plot with a bucket and trowel before cooking tea.
