Babe, if you go see Annie, Brian will teach you all need to know.  :)

When I got there last time, he was just extracting the boys bits from the chicken which is currently in our freezer !!  :)

i really wish i knew how to raise them for lunch.

maybe i'll be brave enough to learn one day.

You thinking what I think youre thinking?

We are going to raise the odd spare cockerel for meat to about 5months then put in next doors stable for a month on finisher to get the weight up.
Will give them space but not too much else as Bodger says they get too lean and muscular. They will have a terrific life while it lasts.
I have thought about selling etc but worry when I see the conditions at sales and auctions and have heard some awful stories recently that would break your heart about so -called breeders.

The boy's bits are amongst the few items that weren't included in the package !!
Brian was impressed by them though (the chicken's). But he disposed of them before sewing the huge beast back up again.

We're planning to eat it on Wednesday so will report back as to how good it is.

What have I started

1. Cockerel alive.
2. cockerel dead.
3. cockerel without head.
4. cockerel with big hand inside it, pulling out slimy bits.
5. Big hand pulls out boy's bits.
6. cockerel gets sewn up and put in a bag
7. cockerel gets put in our freezer.

There may a few technicalities in between but that's the basics. I'm not an expert but I'm sure there's not much more to it

Would Brian perhaps run a little workshop perhaps?

We have a professional who will do the deed humanely, but the messy bit -how on earth do you get the bits out?Dressing a bird? and the willy? how'd do find that?

It was actually the balls that he was impressed with. I don't recall seeing the willy but then I don't have a trained eye

Brian takes great pride in his stitching !

You'd have to ask Annie whether he'd be interested or not. I know it's not as easy as it looks. I'd be hopeless.

From what I remember Foxy - you cut a slit up their bum, stick your hand in grab what's in there and pull, then repeat again, give it a wash and Bobs your uncle (n don't mention the aunt!)
