help please!
my cucumbers were growing lovely and i was very excited (they are my babies and ive nutured them) but i looked at them tonight and the ends of them are going rotten? they are only small (bit smaller than my little finger) and i am horrified! :cry:
is there anything i can do (i have 2 more cucumbers growig and they are smaller and ok at the mo) and whats causing it?
thanks for the advice, im gutted, its our first year at growing and i was very proud til now.

they are outdoors, watered in the evening, the rot is sort of white and brownish yeah.
dont tell me aunt sally ive failed my little babies?!

Sounds like Botrytis.  It can happen to outdoor cucs when the weather is damp.

Remove (and burn) any infected fruit and leaves, I would spray with a fungicide.  Make sure not to over water them !

aunty if i do that will it perk up again, or do i start again? should i bring it indoors? totally gutted as my 2 yr old lives on cucumbers and it would have sooooooo exciting to grow her one!

they don't like be overwatered. Do you water them by standing them in a tray cos I think that's best than doing it from overhead.

Cucumbers do need a lot of water I believe, but if you water the fruit, it can spoil, also will rot from any damage point like slugs, birds might inflict on it, or from soil dwelling fungi if touching the soil.

There is also blossom end rot, which is caused by under watering. Dropping the first few fruits also happens.

If all other parts of plant look healthy and free from colours, rots, fungi, I would not worry.

Make a mound around the stem and water in a well around it, don't let fruit touch  the ground.
