whaich caulis and savoy?

anybody reccomend a caulis and savoy cabbage to be sown\planted in august? ready for january?

Anything sown NOW won't be ready until early spring.

My 'winter' caulis are Walcheren Winter Pilgrim. Sown last month, ready March if I'm lucky.

My spring cabbage will shortly be sown, ready Aprilish.

Any cabbage to harvest in January, (er January King), will need to have been in for some time now.

what can i put in place of my second early spuds when all are harvested dont want to waste the ground

Nothing that will be ready in January, but there's spring cabbage, later on Japanese Onions, garlic........

We were recommended Winter Pilgrim cauli too by a man (customer ) in the local garden centre - he saw me looking and offered his advice. Seems these gardening types are really quite friendly - very much like here I guess
