Tomato question.
« on: July 01, 2008, 16:46 »
I got some tomato plants on sunday and was just going to put them in a grow bag but I'v noticed a couple of leaves on two of the plants have got some very small white spot's and just wondered if this is something to worry about and if so should I ditch the plants or is there any hope for them?

As a gardening beginner I have no clue yet about tom's so any help will be greatfully recieved.

This is probably just leaf burn where they have got splashed by water. The droplets act as a magnifying glass. Nothing to worry about.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Sounds like iron deficiency.  If the plants have been in a small pot for a long time this can happen.  Mix a little dried blood, fish and bone meal into the grow bag when planting should sort it out.  If badly effected simply cut the leaves off that have spot.

Best of luck

A bit of bug damage, nothing to worry about as other leaves are fine. Once the plant can get food, pest damage will be almost nil. The lower leaves usually wither away once the plant puts on growth.

I'd take it off though as they breed all year round. And some soap spray as per aphids can be good.
