Chilli plant - First bug attack!
« on: July 01, 2008, 12:17 »
Hi,

Watering my greenhouse plants last night and notice the chilli seemed to have dust on it. Little white flecks. On closer inspection I could see green beasties in amongst the leaves. I assume green fly but didnt get that close.

As this is my first year, how should I get rid of them? Will the soapy water do the trick and should I do all the tomato, cucumbers and peppers too?

Thanks,

Cudders

Just zap them with a water gun, no need to use soapy water unless a major infestation.

Sounds like you have greenfly and whitefly! Whitefly is very hard to get rid of in the greenhouse. I personally spray with bugclear but its not an organic method. You need to take action quickly cause it will quickly decimate your plants.

There are three signs of old age. The first is your loss of memory, the other two I forget.

Hi auntie!

Well some of them are no longer wth us. Basically ripe old age. Turns out they are pushing 5-6 years old according to my vet who visited them. Just time catching up with them.

They are otherwise healthy and happy which is the main thing. A friend has taken the rest to a spare pen he has and they can live there until the end. Its' nice that they are much happier now but a shame only the last 9 months or so they were looked after properly.

The shed is now stripped and I'm busy making new pens for a new flock. I have 12 black rocks on order and will hopefully be hatching my own too! Thats with an incubator before you ask!
