I know it sounds silly but I never really thought I would get potatos but i did-loads!

I used one of those plastic bags that you can re-use and they are great.

my friends planted exactly the same spuds - one batch in the ground and the other in the plastic bags - the plants in the bags are twice the size and much stronger looking.

Gonna give it a go myself next year
Good beer, good BBQ and good friends.

I have heard of these bags but have not come across them yet, i suppose you could use the large dumpy bags that you get from builders with sand/gravel in.

you can, I fill em with poo and sort of try and get them standing upright then use them as raised beds. Good for courgettes, pumpkins and the like  :D

Charlotte.

That was last year, we haven't emptied any out yet this year as I was a little late in topping up the compost so I'm letting them have a couple more weeks. I've done different varieties this year so it will be interesting to see what we get.

The tubtrugs look a good idea.  Might do some for my daughter next year, with three of my seed tats.

They are very easy to drill holes in and when you tip them upside down little ones can dig in the compost with their hands and find the spuds. Actually I'm not sure who liked it best me, Daddy or our son  :D

I've got a load of spuds growing in bags dotted around my plot. Idea was to save space for something else. I used the blue rubble sacks from B + Q and they seem fine.
