Bumper leaves but small roots
« on: June 29, 2008, 13:37 »
All my veg are growing skyward at the rate of knots (onions 2 1/2 ft, broad beans 5 ft with tops pinched out) but on harvesting my first cauli, it looked (and tasted) fine yet the roots were only small. Nothing's wilted though I may have underwartered during recent dry spell but all my root veg (turnips and potatoes) are well-formed. Any ideas?
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

the roots on my brassicas were small but they were fine. Maybe they just have small roots which is why we firm then in really well. Not sure like but it's just a hunch  :)
