Doesn't really matter where you are, it's a bit too late for any standard stockists.

I think you'll find the only ones available now are from specialist seed catalogues for Christmas harvest.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Thanks DD, I was hoping there may be somewhere local so as to save on postage and so i could see exactly what i was getting, i.e. how many to say 2kg and how many 10ft row they will do, when it comes to growing anything i am greener than G.C.C.M. :?

Oh dear, metric.

The usual size is reckoned to be about 2 ounces, but if you buy pre-packed you have to take what you get.

This will average about 35 to a 2 kg pack, but this will vary a lot. I have a nursery nearby that sells about 90 varieties loose, so I never bother with weight, just buy the exact number I need!

I have never grown new spuds for Christmas, but reading postings here it can be very hit & miss, with poor results, but it's up to you if you wish to try them.

As a newcomer, I might be inclined to give them a miss this year and start at the beginning, as it were.

I grow my early spuds with a 12" spacing - so it's 10 to a 10 foot row. Lates go in with an 18" spacing, so that's 6 - 7 a row.

I leave 2 feet between rows for earlies & 2 1/2 feet for lates.

Hope that helps!
