thanks to the very nice rep from Mr. Fothergills Seeds, I have been given some sprouting seeds to try.  The official tray you can buy is rather expensive but I'm giving it a go on an old meat tray (plastic that the meat was sold in).  You soak them overnight and then spread out on the tray, wash them twice a day and then in 4 to 5 days you can eat them.  I'll let you know how I get on.

you can do them in a jam jar as well and then when they are about ready just put the lid on and keep them in the fridge to use as and when  :D
All these moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

Mung beans, chickpeas and lentils are my staples - though until I discovered the Tesco ones recently had trouble getting mung beans that sprout properly, H&B ones don't.  Lightly sprouted chickpeas I cook with my supper veg.

I know alfalfa is the "queen of foods" and all that but - yuck, it's hard to make yourself eat it I find.  I tried sprouting hemp recently, see here, it didn't sprout much but was nice when roasted later.

You can get bags called Sproutman Sprout Bags instead of jars or tubs, I was thinking of making my own from a hemp and linen fabric, perhaps this is the key to making the things like hemp sprout properly.
