Fruit??

I'd like to grow fruit on my plot - already trying some strawberries and a few melons, but want to get going with more berries for next year. Any suggestions for fruit that's easy to grow, and when to plant it?

Rasps are easy and can be bought quite cheaply. Worth growing as they are dear to buy from the supermarket

Dessert guzgogs are nice and sweet and are good for a variety of dishes

I'll second raspberries!

There's also black/red currants. and blackberries.

Raspberries are best planted late autumn/early winter. Currants can be grown from cutting taken in October, as well as gooseberries, although these will obviously take a bit longer to establish than bought plants.

I have a very long row of Autumn Bliss raspberries to thin out every year and can supply cuttings of gooseberries and blackcurrants. I intend to put this on the Swap Shop & Recycle forum at the due time, but if I forget, anyone that would like some, please make a note to PM me!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

To be pedantic, the raspberries are roots, I'll try to remember to post nearer the time, but just remind me. Got a head like a sieve!

Oh dear, what have I started?

Already had some requests in direct. Will be relying on your Outlook, Brian, as for some reason mine's gone up the Swanny & refusing to open!

raspberries, loganberries, tayberries, blackberries, blueberries, blackcurrents, redcurrents, whitecurrents

all easy, although blueberries need a bit of work as they like acid soil

i have them in my plot, the redcurrents are not doing so well, but the rest are fine
