New potatoes for Ch*stmas D*nner

Sorry to think a while ahead, but SWMBO has expressed an interest in growing our own new potatoes to be ready on or about December 25th.

Anyone done this before?
Growing salad leaves isn't rocket science.

I tried last year but I didn't get many also my sprouts were rubbish. Hopefully this year I will have a decent harvest
The answer lies in what you put into the ground!

Hi,

Sorry for the newbie question

Like others I just ordered my spuds and some more buckets (I have three tubs growing well in my back garden at the moment) and would like to have them for Christmas.

I also use their foilage to soften the lines of my greenhouse in the backgarden so double benefit and my 4yr old is exicted as we are about to harvest our new potatoes. :)

On the point of frost damage,  I can put the Spuds into my greenhouse, but I wouldn't want them there all winter (I only have a 6x6) once established can they live comfortably outside?

Thanks
Dave

Frost WILL wipe them out, so they'll need covered with fleece or similar if they're to survive the winter outside.
