squash pollenation

Hi, I have one squash plant growing in my back garden which has just flowered, only the one at the moment, but i was wondering if it needed other flowers to produce any fruit?

Is it a male or female flower? If it's male it won't produce fruit anyway. A female will need pollenating.

A female flower will have a small fruit just behind the flower. The male will have just a thin stem.

This is a courgette plant, but will give you the gist hopefully...

ok this helps, ive got courgettes, and seen them do their thing.
my existing flower is a strapping male, so ill have to wait for a female.
