I've lost my cherry!

I planted a Stella desert cherry last spring. It didn't bloom last year but did this year and about a 100 cherries developed.

A couple of weeks ago I netted it because some birds were starting to take interest.

Last week the cherries started to turn colour starting to turn a patchy red and look as if they were ripening slowly.

This week they are falling off in large numbers.

Help please!

Copious amounts of watering at fruit swelling help if weather is dry, also a thick mulch in spring whilst ground is soaked. I almost every year has this problem when May is dry with my Stella, which I suspect to be on a rather dwarfing stock.
