MERRY TILLER MANUAL,
« on: June 10, 2008, 20:21 »
Hi, I have tried without success to download the merry tiller manual by pdf  that's supposed to be available on this site but to no avail. I even updated my adobe reader but to no avail, would it be possible for someone with a little spare time to email it to me if they have it on their computer that is, I know spare  time is  priceless at this growing time of year on the allotment, But I really need to sort out my rotorvator, and I was hoping to find out from the manual how to fit new drive shaft oil seals, regars Mick Thomas. :(

Hello,

A machinery trade colleague once told me that he had an original MT special tool for removal of some of the seal types...I seem to think it involved screwing a puller device into the old seal.??...but I never got to see this device....

My very limited experience has been only at a dismantle of the case halves.

I think the manuals that are about are basically operating manuals rather than service manuals....albeit with a lot more adjustment etc details than a manufacturer would dare list these days.....but don't recall seeing a ref in them for seal info?

Perhaps contact with Richard T' may assist your endeavours.??

His website is....   http://www.merrytiller.co.uk/

Manuals for two types can be found here...  http://merrytiller.dyndns.org/
(do note that the Major is for models within the last design type..C.1983 to early 1990s)

All the best,
          "Dori."

Many thanks dori, That is where I got the seals from in the first place. The bit about m.t. pullers is for bearings, the seals just push on the shaft or are hammered on with a suitable piece of tube, I need to know if you have to split the casing or if they are hammered in from the outside.but I will still go on searching for a copy of a manual, especially an exploded picture of the crank case, regards Mick.

Two types listed on these links....second one seems a bit slower and "lumpy" to open.?..
