Anyone else having a drought ?
« on: June 09, 2008, 23:21 »
Unbelievably It's only rained up here once properly in the last 6 weeks give or take a couple of insignificant showers.

I think up here in the north we've been getting all the dry weather but it's not doing my veg much good.

Anybody else struggling with the lack of rain ? :?

Surprisingly enough we hav'nt had much for weeks now. Just one downpour and that water soon dissappeared!  Luckily enough there are no drought restrictions here and our veggie plot is opposite the cottage, so it can be hosed quite regularly :)

Had a good soaking last week, but it's drying out now.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Thank fully we can get the hose out on to the allotments but it does not do the same job as good shower from above.
If it rots compost it
If it burns burn it

I'm over in Northern Ireland and we haven't seen much rain in the past month.  There was a few showers last week but not much else recently.

The growing conditions have been perfect in my part of Norfolk. We have spells of warm/hot sunshine followed by high rainfall for the past 6 weeks, 27c yesterday, 23c forcast today, showers on Wednesday.

By the way we call climate change, weather in Norfolk.

Q. Why do we not hear anymore about the hole in the Ozone layer.

A. It is no longer there, thats why.

We've had a fair bit of rain I think, but even so the ground is dry as a bone and I am watering in new plants longer than i normally would.  don't tend to water much if it can be avoided as it means carrying cans and i am basically lazy!

Really dry here - we find right on the north-east coast where we are it is dry anyway but at the moment it's rediculous - we have only had one significant shower in the last goodness knows how many weeks and then another little shower overnight a few days ago.

Rain is forecast here for wed but nothing worth writing home about - anyone fancy joining me in a rain dance?

It's been very hot for the past 5/6 days on the South coast. Good rainfall before hand.

Due to change tommorrow. Good growing weather!
Top tip for camping....don't go.

It's been very dry in Glasgow recently and there's been no rain to speak of for weeks.  The main problem is that we don't have a water supply on site so all water is collected rain water. My rain water butts are drying out but rain is forecast tomorrow and over the weekend so hopefully there's a decent downpour.
