broad beans gone black
« on: June 09, 2008, 20:05 »
Hi All,
Can anyone tell me what's up with my broad bean plants ?
The leaves have dark brown patches, but not many.  The stems have some black patches and the flowers are turning black.  One plant has died.  It seems too severe for chocolate spot but what else could it be ?  What shall I do ?  Dig them all up or what?
Any help greatly appreciated.

The flower naturally die back to normal. Otherwise sounds stem and foot root which quite often comes together with chocolate spot.

It's a bit summery, but still worth trying if they get through it. Remove very bad stalks and give them a good feed. :)

Thanks for that.
I have done as you suggested.  I noticed a few pods forming so they can't be quite as bad as they seem.
