that's unreal.. but it's all about desire.. if you have the need, and not the ability to find them elsewhere... well then the seller wins ;)

It's the way it goes when something becomes fashionable.

You get inexperienced bidders who just keep topping the last one rather than let things settle for a bit.

If you've got plenty of cash and want something, you don't worry about being overcharged. The same in the housing market and any other where the wealthy can up the going rate at the drop of a hat.

Hope things calm down a bit soon.

£57!!!

Good grief! How much is a peacock just to buy if it is £57 for an egg that might never hatch and would have been better off as an omlette!
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.

Peacocks seem to go for about £100-200 each.

But if you're not clued up and just 'want' one, and have plenty of ready cash, there's no economic considerations.

They seem to have become the current accessory to go with the country pad.

Don't really see why. Pretty and a status symbol I'm sure, but they sound like someone is being murdered in the background!!!

Maybe it's the new way of annoying the neighbours !

Big sound system out. Peacocks in.

It conjures up the large country mansion and impresses their friends I suppose.

I'd like a peacock because I love the sound they make and think they are absolutely stunning but I live in suburbia so no chances of me getting one of those!  :D

I paid £6 (inc postage) on Ebay for 3 Speckled Sussex and 3 Buff Orpingtons, all 6 were fertile and 4 hatched so I'm really pleased.

I think for us buyers we have to set ourselves a limit of how much we want to pay and not budge otherwise prices do rocket.

I was offered 2 peacock/hen chicks the other day from the neighbour (he has at least 25 peacocks/hens) I declined- I wanted to keep friends with my nextdoor neighbours and keep my veg patch!

Storrs Poultry list them on their website as £85 per pair - and you can see what you're getting for the price before you pay :)
Nobody said this was going to be easy ... but some days are better than others!
