I ate my first beetroot today

It was lovely!! I´ve never had a hot fresh beetroot before- I´ll never eat pickled beetroot again! Can´t wait for the others to be big enough to pull up

I´ve got them growing in the flower bed. Can you eat the leaves as salad leaves? If so, does it hurt the ´fruit´if you pick the leaves before the root is dug up?

the leaves are just like chard leaves.

best way to cook it - wrap it in foil and put in on the BBQ

did you boil or roast it?

Young leaves are excellent in salads and extremely good for you, take just a few of each plant, they'll be fine.

Roasted beetroot is to die for, just quarter it and dribble with olive oil and roast for 40 mins,

I just boiled it! The next one I will cook in foil on the bbq

I´ll plant more seeds tomorrow and fingers crossed get another crop.

i've planted my 2nd succession and in a few weeks will do the 3rd! last year was my first year and i did one sowing only then discovered i loved the stuff and wished i'd done more so i've planned it a lot better this year!

mmmmm....BBQ tonight - sadly not my own yet, market bought. but nicely roasted all the same!
