Thanks Annie
I am now pretty sure i dont have it.
I do have a lot of one kind of weed which has waxy leaves and has just started producing the odd purple flower. It is running everywhere so i am hoping to get my husband to remove it!

At least you know what it looks like now Dotty!  Took me 4-5 years to get rid of it.  I dug down about 4ft once, but it came back up as it can go down about 10 metres or something!

Hope you get rid of that other weed.  I think I know the one you mean, but I can't think what its called!

"Good morning Jamie!  Did you know you've just replied to a thread that's nearly 3 years old?"

That's knotweed for you, it'll always be there...;0)

Interesting that it also spreads down river banks, by getting exposed to the water, breaking off, and moving a bit downstream...

You can eradicate isolated clums with Roundup - I've done just that!

It took some time to spray every leaf surface of the clump, but it hasn't come back in two years and counting...

I just kept spraying and it died back eventually
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

I haven't seen my bit for over 2 years, but it came back this year!  But after 2 sprays with neat Clinic Ace, its died again!

Until next time!!

I don't think it can spread on the wind, but I know it's roots can travel forever underground then pop up somewhere!
