Writing/Drawing on eggs
« on: June 04, 2008, 13:51 »
Hi all,
I think this is gonna be one of the stupid questions but here goes: Is it safe to draw/write on eggs with felt tip or can it permeate through the shell and affect the egg?

I've been ill alot lately and wanted to take in a few eggs for my boss on saturday as a bribe so he don't sack me  and wanted to draw some faces on them (immature I know)

I think the answer is gonna be yes, sometimes they can affect the eggie. But, I have used permanent markers on mine and not had a problem  Surely your boss cant sack you for being ill
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most!!

Sorry to hear that Katt. I know quite a bit about Lupus and its a b****r so you have my sympathy :) I hope he shows some compassion too, perhaps you could give him a leaflet that tells him about it but I suppose that runs a risk in itself :(

Blimey, I'm surprised you've heard of it, most people haven't a clue what it is  , did think about giving him a leaflet or something but as I lied when I took the job(you know,'yes of course i'm fit and healthy') then he would be in his right to let me go, trouble is alot of the time I am ok. Oh well

I shall say this only once.

Food colourings.

Painted on.

I've heard of lupus but don't know anything about it. However, it's clearly something not to be envied so I hope it doesn't give you any more problems.
Every interview i've been to, I get right to the end where they ask if there's anythign else and I throw in "Oh yes, I'd better mention I'm diabetic". Once they decide they want you, it's unlikely to throw it.

Could you not say you have just been diagnosed? ;) would get you to the point of being able to educate your boss, whilst keeping within your contract.. if it ever went to court it wouldn't stand up of course but that's unlikely to happen.

I must admit havent heard of the condition or have any knowledge.. will have a google. :)

The food colouring sounds like a great tip :)

Excellent idea Porffor. Cunning plan.

Or it's wasn't bad before so you didn't think it a problem but now it's getting worse.
I dare say people with IBS or similar 'personal' problems don't mention to their boss. You deserve some privacy !

I always write the names of the chicken which laid the egg on each egg if I'm giving them away.     How sad am I?!!!

And my mum always drew funny faces on our boiled eggs and we turned out ok         Er well I suppose that's open to debate.

I did say at an interview once that I had absolutely no desire to have children and then was pregnant within a month!  :D  :D

Hope you feel better soon Katt.

My sister has lupus and for most of the time is ok but when it hits her boy does she suffer, so I can sympathise with you Kattcottrell, i'm sure if you spoke to your boss and explained the situation he would understand.  I would hope he would be happier keeping you than having to train someone else up, at least thats how I, as a line manager, would be thinking.

By all means take him some eggies, it can't hurt can it.
