Ground frost warning
« on: June 02, 2008, 06:46 »
Just checked www.metcheck.com and in my area the temp between 1am and 7am on Wed mor is 4/5c that mean a ground frost down my allotment. So everyone around the country check you temp for that night and get ready to cover up. Hopefully this will be the last low temp like that this growing season. Finger crossed.
I CAME LATE TO THIS GAME, BUT IT'S IN THE BLOOD. I TRY TO BE ORGANIC BUT SORRY HAVE TO USE THE SLUG PELLETS.

Just looked up Kettering & it says 6C, which I think is a biit too high for a ground frost.

BBC gives 9C - so you pays yer money.......!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Errm  :?

The default is London but you can set it to your location if you want . . .

Thankfully no frost here either on BBC or metcheck.
I demand the right to buy seed of varieties that are not "distinct, uniform and stable".

Yuck 8C tonight but 3C tomorrow night bbbbrrrrrrrr

Thankfully didn't get a chance to plant out this weekend so I can still cover with fleece if I need to. I knew there had to be an advantage to not getting the gardening done this weekend

It does mate but my allotment is at a bottom of a valley in the NE of kettering and is not sheltered and believe me if it 6C or below its ground frost down are allotments  so the temp is about 3/4C below What it says. So I will be covering up to be on the safe side. I lost loads in that final frost last year and I dont want it to happen again.

Cheers

Hello there sven I was beginning to think you'd dug too deep and fallen in. Where you been? The weather in Hull has gone much colder this week and I've tucked everything up with hot water bottles and whiskey!!!
I know less today than I did yesterday, and I knew nothing then!

Ground frost in June?

Well I never, surely a mistake?

http://www.theweatheroutlook.com/

There's nary a sign of frost - and in fact, looks like a dry and warm outlook for a good few days - loverly!

Dont know just some months you just cant be bothered to go the pc or this or other forums. I have been around working hard from Jan getting plot ready and it is looking very good at the moment. Got to the top of my allotment this year and planted me first and second in there. They going great. taking no changes tomorrow night with the low temp will be covering up me spud, courgettes, Toms and sweetcorn and cucumber and me peppers.

How are you? Hope you are well and all is well on you plot and if you support Hull congrats to making it to the premier league.

A few pix I have shown this before this was the start Mar 2006

Same view but early may 2008 it looks bare but looks different today.
