Shallots bolting...is it just me ?

About a quarter of my shallots are sending up flower spikes.

I think it must have been the last month of no rain and hot weather that's caused it.

Is anyone else having similar problems or am I alone.

Not seen them in the shallots yet, but one or two in onion sets.

As for the winter onions - I swear I chopped them off twice!

Some of my shallots are also spiking up, I agree it seems to be down to the long dry spell we have had to endure.

Nothing bolting here yet except spring-sown leeks.
Must be beginner's luck. Or BAD luck, 'cos I prefer leeks

Vegmandan, hope you don't mind me asking & excuse my ignorance - but aren't your onions all from heat-treated sets? And if so, aren't they supposed to 'not' do this?

Yes my onions are from heat treated sets and they are all OK,It's just the shallots which are bolting which are just bog standard ones as you can't get heat treated shallots to my knowledge

ah, I see. Thanks for clearing that up, I've been debating on trying heat-treated next time (onions), that's why I asked
