Where the heck is the deliciously named Hugglescote?!

Weeds - yep for the first few years they are back breaking, but if you persist - they desist!  Honest.  After that, you'll do some gentle hoeing and you're sorted!  The harder you kill em... the more they disappear.

Mulch mulch mulch too...

You have a beautiful plot, you should be proud as punch!

Thanks Tigerhair, we're well chuffed with it, it's just keeping it that way that take the work.

The deliciously named Hugglescote is just down the road in Leicestershire on the outskirts of Coalville.

I'd much rather be up in Ashbourne any day.  Those Cornish pasties at Milldale take some beating.

Back on the pot
Back down the pot today. After sitting in the office looking out of the window most of the morning decided to take a half day. All that lovely sunshine. But how wet it is! So wet the neighbours clearing ready to put in a trench to drain it away to the ditch. I know it's been raining but this is rediculous. Managed to get some serious digging done on the drier parts and how good it felt. Dug half a dozen leeks up so they'll go nice in the lotty totty's famous pasta dish.

Got the plan sorted for next year. Already have two beds of onion sets and some garlic, well around 80 cloves so that should see us through next year. Potatoes are ordered - Aran Pilot, Wiljas, Roosters and Marris Pipers.  Which sparked the usual debate with the mother in law at the weekend, about whether King Eds are the best for roasting. We agree to dissagree on that one everytime. I wouldn't mind but her roasties are rubbish, but we don't let her know....bless. My preference is obviously Maris Piper.

Can't wait for Christmas so I can get down there and get the potato bed dug ready for spring.
