HI

I have a hen that has been quiet for the last week, she has been sitting and brooding with 2 others that have gone broody but she seems to have lost weight and seems lethargic, she has been scratching around with the others, she doesnt feel hot like she has a temperature so at a loss really

any suggestions?

Is she pooping normally and laying?

the problem I have is that she is in with 10 other hens and some of them have gone been off lay and are just starting to lay again, her bottom is clean and I have found no messy poos anywhere she has been eating worms today with the others so she is eating but she is weaker than the others and has lost weight.

Hey, Chelseablue where you been? Was wondering how the chook is as I have one that sounds like the same symptoms, weight loss, shaky on her feet, sitting & eating, she is drinking too though, also had a dust bath, but very lethargic.
Did you get your Cream Legbars? Holly starting laying about a month ago now.

Have you checked recently for red mite?  One of my 2 little freaky Amberlinks has been very quiet for some days, lost weight, just stands dozing, then today I remember to take my glasses up to their house and yep, red mites all over the roof!!!!

So spent the afternoon attacking the things with poultryshield, and must get some red mite powder tomorrow, as I've run out.  Poor little thing, I hope I've got the blooming things in time for her.
