Sowed too early, but have nurtured these toms, and last week in 32degrees in my greenhouse i planted out the best of my tomato plants.

First flowers formed, and i'm happy as....

But now i have noticed that the lower leaves are going dark brown between the veins, and then at the edges they are going white and papery.

The leaves above have started to go a bit yellow around the edges too.

I am not techie enough to post a pic.

Could this be blight, last year my few toms never ripened, and as the weather was so poor, (and  a few other things were going on) i left the greenhouse go to pot.  Here comes another confession, i didn't clean the greenhouse or soil before firing ahead with this years plants.

What have i got? Could it be last years blight that i never even noticed?

Please tell me it's possible that it is something else.
Liv.

Not sure about blight, but it's definitely too cold for toms at 32F - freezing point. Did you harden off the plants first before putting them into the greenhouse? eg let them slowly adapt to stronger outside light an hour or 2 a day before putting them out full time? Despite the low temps, it sounds more like some sunscald from too much light too soon.

Try looking on here that may give you a clue or nightmares

Not splashed the leaves with water in the sunshine have you ? could be scorching ??

I think that will be centigrade (celsius) Trill.  It's been very hot in the UK recently !

Yes Aunt Sally, it is centigrade, i'm in Ireland though, but also getting a bit of a nice warm spell.

Hardened off quite well i thought.

Richie, that link is to the same site i found earlier, and the closest picture was the one for Alternaria canker.... early blight?

But i could also be accused of watering when too sunny... hoping for sunscorch!!

What should i do?  Remove leaves and burn?  Because i sowed so early i re-sowed in April and have some nice little (4") plants coming along, are they in danger too. What should i do with the new plants?

Nothing to do with blight, Livvy. Have you got your gh shaded?

Hi Gobs, no..... no shade,  don't normally get much sun for it to be a problem here in the mountains. Am discussing possibility with OH at the moment.

So is the general concensus sunscorch then? (Please, Please)

The flowers buds have continued to develop in the last couple of days, would this happen if they had some terrible blight?

Have i been to hasty in lopping all the lower leaves off then?

I'd say it does sound like sun damage, so wouldn't worry too much,
livvy  :)
Just try to provide a wee bit of shade if it gets very hot & sunny

Don't worry about lopping off the lower leaves. Incidentally, my tip from the professional tomato grower was to snap off leaves and sideshoots not cut. Apparently bleeds less and the plant heals faster although it leaves a scar.

Don't worry, Trill, I'm still getting to grips with feet & inches. What was wrong with rods, poles & perches - that what I want to know!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Livvy, lots of people don't realize that celery is actually a cool loving crop once it gets started. It will easily take fall frost (but not spring frost- too young), so once your season warms up a bit, get the celery outside somewhere and you can relax, they'll look after themselves as long as they get regular watering (bog plant by nature). As for the damaged leaves, I don't bother removing mine until they're withered and I yank them off, if at all.
