Pleeeeeeeeeeeeese can anyone help with my cat problem???

I inherited two cats from two daughters who have now left home.

Sure they keep the mice away!!!  BUT... my poor brassica patch is covered in cat poo...  Every other bed is fine, cat poo free... but the cabbages, broccali etc... have cat droppings and holes where they have tried covering their traces all over the bed...   How do you all cope with cats (those that have them)

Love them to bits... but soooo wish they would leave my bed alone!!!

Sounds like the only sure fire solution is to cage in the brassicas with stout sticks and chicken wire. An expense and extra work but it's all that will do the trick. There are some animal deterrent products with names like Skoot that may or may not work. The cats have established territory now so I think the cage is the only way.

1) put up a net all round the bed
2) get some dead branches and put them between you plants

hope that helps

Yes...  So simple really.  Just, when you are faced with a nasty problem, you cannot see the wood for the trees, cage in the whole bed... no more problem!!!   Thank you so much.

I`ve used old DVD/CD  discs, place them in the ground upright at a slight angle, it worked for us anyway.
I think its supposed to show their reflextion or something and frighten them away. Also, half filled clear bottles of water are supposed to work, but I havent tried them because the discs thing worked for me.

Try holly branches or bits of carpet gripper.
Oh for those halcyon days of England long ago

Having a few problems with cats at the moment.  Tried to chase one out of the garden the other day but it only wanted to play with me   Have tried the bottle idea with little success, but now have a good use for all those free CDs that come with the Sunday papers.

I have to fence off everything that I don't want the cats to disturb.  I don't mind them using the flower beds but i do object to the vege beds when I am planning to eat stuff from there!

Thanq for all ideas..  Will definitely try to cover area with wire mesh as have some laying around..  have tried water filled bottles, no good for me!  I too don't mind the flower beds being used (if they HAVE TO)  Guess they have to go somewhere!  But veggies are a no - no.

Got lots of CD's hanging around all over my plot to deter pigeons...  Thankfully that seems to have worked.............. so far!

You should not use carpet gripper. You'll end up with a lacerated cat.

Not a nice way of dealing with problems.

Do a search on this forum for cats - their psychology and the best ways to repel them has been detailed several times.
