Broody help please!!
« on: May 17, 2008, 13:31 »
My silkie cross has been broody for about 10 days now.
I keep turfing her off the eggs and making her come out for food and drink but should I be doing anything else??
Her poor little chest is bare and looks red and sore but otherwise she looks well.
I feel like cruella deville when I take the eggs away. She has stopped laying but she collects the other hens eggs under her.
Should i seperate her from them?
Many thanks in advance :?

a few days by herself wont do her any harm will stop her collecting the eggs! she will lose interest once she has no eggs for a few days.

Keep her in a cool place to lower her body temperature - broodies have a raised body temperature.
