I hadn't even thought of that!

I plan to do the same (when the geenhouse comes out of hiding in the shed!!)

I'l watch this for an answer!

They don't really cross breed if hybrids, but if they're open-pollinated plants you want to save seed from, you'd best separate all the melons from cross pollination and the cukes. That way you'll get the true seeds again. Otherwise, don't worry about it.

As Trill said, it's only the seed you need to worry about.

Takes me back to my first ever post where I showed what happened to seed saved from a marrow that grew with the pumpkins....

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I actually gave to plant to someone else, not knowing of course how they would turn out. He never did say if he ate them or not!

The plants I kept for myself were fine.

A few folk thought thy were ornamental gourds when I posted the piccie, until I explain the scale of the photo. At this stage they were about a foot long.

I'm waiting for one of them to get up & walk! (Stuffed triffids anyone?).

I'm sure others have had strange cross-breeds.

It was very odd this plant, the longer the season got, the smaller the green bit on the fruit that appeared.

T&M pay some £50 for new varieties they think worth marketing.

There is a courgette on sale, bi-coloured just like that, half green and half yellow.
