I have an allotment   :D

I didn't expect to get anything this year, so I'm really, really happy. I need to pick the key up next week, and then get going. It's already got a shed base in one corner, and a tap.

<Skips off to find some paper and plan the plot out!> 8)

Sweet! I got mine a few days ago, only took a couple of weeks.  No tap though, just a stream!

Not necessarily.  You don't have to work yourself to an early grave cos you got a plot. We're talking growing veg not moving mountains. The important bit to remember is to enjoy it. Remember your enthusiasm as at now, and if you don't try and do it all in a day, then you won't get overwhelmed which leads to despondency. Take picnics, barbie etc, daft hat, sun lotion, and start off by clearing a bit then sowing or planting sommat

I re-read my very first entry in my diary last night upon getting my plot in  05.  I'd written "OH bought Glyphos, I bought onion sets". He never did use that glyphos     I also wrote, "clear a piece of ground-  the size of a small door mat will do"  :D

Thanks for all the congratulations!

It does look a bit daunting - all currently grassed over, but the warden did say that by the time I got hold of my key he would have cut it all short for me.

My plan is to come up with a 'master plan' that I will work towards, complete with polytunnel location etc so that I don't end up putting perennials in the wrong place, but to start off doing a little bit at a time. The courgette and pumpkin seedlings on the windowsill will be egging me on to get on with it so they can stretch their roots!

My husband thinks I'm mad :D

Good advice IMO

I have 2 plots that are still quite weedy in places but I'm getting there, it's hard to turn back many seasons of neglect in a few months better to enjoy  what you can than worry about getting it "all" done.  :D
