sage problem
« on: May 06, 2008, 21:53 »
Hi,

I have a sage plant doing quite well on the kitchen window sill in a 5" pot. However, just recently I've noticed white furry patches appearing on many of the leaves. It appears to be on the leaf surface rather than just a discolouring as I can brush some of it away.

Anyone any ideas as to what is happening?

this should be outdoors.  Too warm inside for sage.  Could be going mouldy  :?

Plant it outdoors in the garden or lotty soil or in a biggish pot with a mixture of soil based compost and grit or garden soil with grit added to help drainage.  I have sage growing (from seed) on the lotty but I have lost several over the winter, or parts of the plants have died off probably due to cold windy, wet weather but I think that's normal.  I think of them as short lived perennials. Very easy to get going from seed though. The plants i've got are lovely, larger leaves than normal and lovely pink flowers which go purpley blue as they get older. Flower for absolutely ages. Seeds from Suffolk Herbs  :D
