Am I too late to grow celery from seed?
If not any tips on what to buy and how to best grow it would be great?
During a visit to the lotty today OH decided she would like to grow some :?

I've got some seedlings on the go. Sowed them back in feb, I think. They're still really tiny. It's the first time I've tried them, so I don't know if they usually take this long to get any growth on.

They're a self blanching type, so don't need trenched. You're welcome to some seed if you want some.

Thanks for the offer love-my-plot, but have got to go to the GC tomorrow to get some lettuce seeds so will get some them (if not too late to plant)

I thinks you are too late sawnee but theres no harm in trying,can you not buy some young plants.robinsons sell them by mail order

I potted mine on this morning and they are not very big at all,they are realy slow growers but once they go outside in june theres no stopping them,your looking at 2 weeks for them to germinate.

Thanks for that info about their growth, Shaun. I wasn't sure what to expect as I haven't grown them before. Hopefully they'll take off when they get planted out  :D

As Shaun says, very slow growth, would also advise on young plants at this time of year.

Even if they would do a bit of a catching up, there is no chance having joy with small seedlings planted out, such a slug favourite they also are.
