Rhubarb

will Rhubarb grow in Spain ? I purchased some when I was in the UK only to be told by a freind that it would not grow? :roll:

As its originally from Siberia it may not like the heat too much. Plenty of manure or good compost and a shady spot and it might go OK. Rhubarb does like a bit of frost in the winter so you might have to treat it with ice cubes in the cold(er) months.

Thanks for that, I'll give it a try, just to prove my mate wrong!!! But the winter bit could be a bit of a problem

you probably wont have to ice it everyday - just a token cold spell ( like a big bag of ice on it might be enough ( I don't know) I'm on The UK south coast and last year didn't have any frost - my rhubarb still grew well and gave a good crop. This year lots of cold and frost and wow is the rhubarb growing. It could be the horse sh*t or it could be the cold - I don't know!!
You have very little to lose by trying it apart from a rhubarb crown or two. Good luck with it
