My girls always do it when they're broody. They come out, all fluffed up, and wander round chuntering and picking up leafs, twigs, anything they can put on their backs! I like the suggestion that they're covering their scent, sounds plausable...maybe being broody is like PMT and it can make you slightly bonkers!! :wink:
