has anyone tried it?

this blog shows one example

http://minmade.blogspot.com/2007/03/those-slimy-*.html

and this is another slightly different

http://bp0.blogger.com/_VFfrWd0jW4k/RoGSaCY5G6I/AAAAAAAAABM/JwQwTaD-qBk/s1600-h/eaten+courgette+plants.jpg

i mean surely the theory is correct,  copper pennies after all rather than copper tape.

Theory's okay, but you'd want a lot of pennies unless it was for a single favourite plant!

well how much is the copper tape? compare that to pennies?.

mind you i am thinking of a veg bed in a garden that is 2 metres by 3 metres rather than a plot.

You could try that if you are gardening at home.

`copper` coins dont contain as much copper as they used to though. I thought the shock the slugs get was due to them touching pure copper, as in the stuff found in cables.

I dunno, I may be wrong

i guess if copper coins did contain the amount of copper they used to, you would be able to get your hands on a any these days as they all have been nicked and sold for scrap metal right?

Scrap copper!!! Its over £4k a ton scrap now.

I had some 10mm cable that i stripped last year and used that as a barrier, I had no lettuce as a result, I think you would need to keep it bright as it will oxadise(no spell check!) and not be as effective.

I'm just after dumping a TV and made a great discovery: there is loads of copper wire inside!!!

It took me a bit to destroy the shell in order to get at the wire, but I am the proud owner of roughly 30 m of Copper wire :)
