hi all,
        Myself and another 5 mates want to get growing our own and we live in st helens in merseyside. We have contacted the local council and looked at the availiblity of the council run plots, and the waiting list is huge. They also offered us a plot but the place was a little far for us and also the place was not in a very nice part.
        Does anybody know of any private run plots where we can apply in our area, we are like i said in st helens. We are a group with bags of energy and desperate to start growing.

       any help would be great and many thanks before hand.

I had a similar problem in Glasgow. All the sites in good areas - west end, Pollok Park - have a 10 year waiting list. The site I'm on was lying derelict for a few years and I was lucky to get in when I did because there's a waiting list there now.  It's not in the best of areas but there are a good bunch of people and I'm quite happy with it.  Why don't you get your name on a waiting list for a site you want and take on another vacant plot in the meantime?
