Acidic bog is what it likes best. Try to mimic as much as you can.

Been told off for this before but it likes an ericacious compost, the same that you would use for azaleas and rhodos, mine just went in the lottie and in its first year last year I had 17 fruits and was quite happy, but have spread some ericacious round it now to help it along.

What were you told off for?

17 fruits of blueberry is about a handful though, is it a very young bush?

Acid and water.

They want acid soil and a low water table, but they dont deal well with being water logged.

I have really heavy clay soil, I just dig a 2x2 spade blade square, cut it up with the spade and put it back in dig out 1x1 and fill with peat compost, plant in that.

Big glob of fish, blood and bone, water, and thats about that.

Note, I'm rubbish
:tongue2:
We use chemicals in this garden, just as god intended

Thin Blue Line built a special bed to put his in and I said I just plonked mine in, and I do wish I was a bit more computer literate so I could say  refer here refer there but I can't, but there is a thread about them.

Everything I've read says they dont do well at the water line, even in a swamp they need a raised hummock.

The arguement is probably academic, I doubt anyone actualy has a swamp.

Good to know if they do prefer really water logged soil, thats pretty much where mine is.

I know that Brigitta is un-self fertile so if its that variety, you need a different one to help pollinate :D
