this is a nutricias and frugal soup, one which i have used for years, and dates back to the second world war and is named after the then minister for food.

vegetable and potatoe peelings,
leftover gristle and bone from joints or a chicken carcass.

place the bones in a medium pot,add 3 pints of water and boil for 1 hour with the lid on.strain the contents into a bowl, dicard the waste then return the liquer to the pan, then add the vege peelings and tops and tails, bring to the boil and then simmer for 30 minutes.pass through a coarse sieve or blend,if thickening is needed ad a cup of oats.alow time to thicken before serving with fresh bread and a bottle of home made pea pod wine.

i save my leftover peelings ,un toutched veg and gravey from sunday to turn into a soup on monday, its worth a try and tastes vary from meal to meal.good way of getting veg into the kids.
