too early?

With the beautiful sunshine I proceeded to sow early carrots and parsnips in my new riased bed - I couldn't wait any longer! I covered them with a tunnel cloche........ and then..... along comes the snow!!!
Do you think the seeds will survive? or was I too eager??

nope, you will be fine, snips take for ever to germinate and carrots are pretty steardy stuff.

I sowed mine 4 days ago. Do you see me panic?
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Our best crops here aren't planted until July, when the soil is warm enough for them, and when they're mature the weather is cold enough to give them a wonderful sweetness and cools them better for storage.

Put my parsnips in a while ago and they have just started coming through and the snow did them no harm at all....

Snow is in fact mellows temperatures.

It's no cold for these plants, it's cold for us as not used to a climate with a winter.
