compost, composter, composting; confusion

I use megazorb for my hamster (and for the chinchilla I was petsitting for a friend). That's a paper-based product that is pretty finely ground up nubs of paper pulp. It's the ideal "dry/brown" to add to our compost to counteract all the soggy vegetable scraps. It's great and it composts down very quickly.

If your wife has concerns about the hygiene aspect, I do believe many sites debate about human/omnivore/meat-eater animal poos but vegetarian (or mostly vegetarian) animals such as the small furry kind in cages are fine. Really, it's like having already pelleted chicken poos but without the chicken stink ;) I keep the extra bedding in carrier bags if my compost buckets are full of kitchenwaste.
wistfully hoping to one day be mostly organic gardener in North London.

Our neighbour's daughter has pet rabbits. He thought it was a bit of an odd request when I asked him for the used bedding, but now every week or so a carrier bag full of goodies is waiting for me on the garden wall !!!
Still glowing, still growing, still going strong!

Hello
Just started with my allotment and in the process of clearing it of weeds.

Can I use the weeds for the compost?

They are not particularly dense and not bindweed although Im not sure what they are.

Im sharing with a mate so wouldnt want to spoil our compost

Cheers

i compost everything weeds n all as long as you leave it for a while should be ok,if you see any roots when you dig out the compost just put them to one side.nettle roots ,couch grass and docks are the ones that you need to look out for.
feed the soil not the plants
organicish
you learn gardening by making mistakes
