Ive just been out with a bowl of damp muesli for the hens. I let them out of the run and put the bowl on the garden. One of them was missing and crouching down I squinted in the coop and she was obviously trying to lay. But she wasnt missing out on her supper so . . . she waddled like a woman in the throes of giving birth came out the run and carefully jumped down the 3 steps onto the garden. I went back in the house just in time to see shed laid her egg on the third step as shed been going down them. Shed got her head down with the others as if nothing had happened. Amazing.
