I got them!
« on: April 02, 2008, 20:56 »
I collected my chooks at 7.30 tonight! They were very free range and were roosting very high up in a barn (must clip wings in the morning!), we got them down and I took them home. It was very much dusk by then so I let them out in the coop, they came out of the box straight away, had a wander round, tried some food then wandered out and pecked corn in the pen. Then they took themselves off to bed and jumped up on the perch...clever little things.

The lady I bought them from had been sold them as POL but she's sure they were only about 14 weeks, so they're probably about 17/18 weeks now, so they should be nice and settled before they start to lay.

I had a cuddle of each one, they were very tame! I'm so excited, can't wait for the morning, to get some piccies.

Very cuddliable! They're very obliging and will gladly come for a cuddle.

Can't stop watching them, we've been rotavating on the allotment so they weren't to impressed...one mangaed to escape and have a wander around the lottie this morning (there was a low bit of fence, now rectified!).

We've just let them out to wander on the freshly dug ground, they loved it, 2 let me pick them up and put them back (one under each arm - I'm like mummy hen), but another wanted to play, she ran (rather quickly) around the lottie, the took herself off into the fenced pen!
