Can I move onions?

I planted some Onions (Radar I think) last Autumn on my Mums plot.

They are still small - I'm assuming the warmer weather will give them a kick start.

Now I have my own plot would I be able to move them to give Mum back some space or will they have to stay put! I'm already hogging another bed with some PS Broccoli.

I would dig one up to see how much root it has. If you can move them with a good chunk of soil then you will probably be ok. Having said that there is a risk of either temporarily checking their growth, or even causing them to go to seed early, particularly if we get a very dry spell after you have moved them. The choice as they say is yours :?
