Hi,

Are fruit trees allowed on allotments, want to grow pears figs etc but are they to big, did think of sprawling the branches(espalier i think?!!) :?

Check the rules of your site or ask the council, they are allowed to plant fruit trees on ours but they prefer the small rootstock type, too many people plant them and then they leave so they are getting keen on this.

whatever fruit tree you want shop wisely and ask for help from the supplier and do the training a tree thing .we can have them on our plots so long as they are looked after  :wink:

not trees but fruit bushes.... can raspberrys survive very hot summers and very sandy soil or would I waste my time?

I know they will grow in sandy soil because I've seen them doing really well. As for hot summers, I would think so but the warm winter may be a problem as some plants really need a cold dormant spell.

My advice would be to give it a go.
