Robinsons do some giant onions and pumpkins, I like to get a few in.I also save special flower seeds from year to year, Bishops children, dahlias and cosmos and chives,  whatever reproduces well from year to year.Tand M do lovely stuff. You cant beat Wilkinsons for a bargain.

Thanks for the tip, looks interesting.

A specialist provider who may be of interest to a few is LW Plants (www.thymus.co.uk) who provide dozens of different Thyme cuttings from the National Collection. As one of the jobs that infuriates me is cutting the grass and weeding the paths (so unproductive !) I am planting some of the lesser used ones with various mat-forming thymes which reduces maintenace and provides herbs for the kitchen too.

BTW, Hyssop is an interesting herb alternative to Lavender for low hedging.

normally Flower you can't beat Wilkos for a bargain but i was in my local branch today (i wanted some growmore and fish blood and bone),  not a bleedin' garden product in the place!!! Crimbalism had totally taken over!!!  as a small protest i set off all of the singing mice and three of the large dancing Santa figures.  then i had to go back and set the singing mice off again 'cause, tacky as they were, i liked them - might be going back to get one...
...or two...

Last Christmas I bought Wilko's little flashing snowmen which changed colous from red to blue to green and so on.I haven't seen the mice and I cant wait for tomorrow to go and have a look. If you get the end of the season sales  you can pick up some great snaps. Next door got lots of polyanthus . Last year I got 3 agapanthas. Turned out stunners.I usually get some cheap  toms and flower  seeds  for the garden.I overbought on the snowmen as they were such a phenomenon or so I thought. Everyone got one stuck to a present.Daren't get Santas , think I might have a few already.

Flower,
the best one has a top hat and sings jingle bells in a high pitched mousey voice and does a little dance, tacky as hell but amusing, but i'll wait until he's got 50-75% off before buying as i usually do in wilkos.  i know for a fact that they are still making a huge profit but i like to think i've got a bargain!!!

They've got a good reputation -
Thing to do is decide what you want to grow and then look through for what varieties people are offering. I really rate the RHS Award of Garden Merit varieties because they are going to be good for the home grower whereas the big money is in supplying commercial growers whose needs are quite different to that of the individual.

Thanks John
Have had a good look through and they have some nice varieties, I thought they would be ok as our allotment society does a huge order for us all so as to get a top discount :)  so makes them pretty cheap too.
