Hi, my first post so hope someone can help and advise me

I've recently purchased a huge water container for my allotment - one of the big square ones in a metal cage that hold 1000 litres.

Before I start filling it with rain from the roof of my shed I want to make sure it is clean. There is a very small amount of a dirty liquid in the bottom and it doesn't smell of anything in particular. The chap who sold it to me (via Ebay for £30) assured me it had not contained anything poisonous or dangerous but I want to make sure.

Any suggestions as to what I can use to swill it out before collecting rain water.

Many thanks

I would be tempted to give it a good rinse then maybe a tin of jeys fluid to dissinfect/clean it.

I'll second that, the large containers are known as IBC's & are used for just about anything in the chemical industry, don't chance it even if the guy said it's clean.

You should have asked him to drink the liquid to prove it  :D  :D
